GMAC Announces Physical Whiteboard Option and Date Extension for the GMAT Online Exam and Executive Assessment Online

RESTON, Va. (June 4, 2020):

The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), administrator of the Graduate Management Admission Test™ (GMAT™) and a global association of leading graduate business schools,

today announced that effective June 11 candidates taking the GMAT Online exam and the Executive Assessment Online will have a choice of whiteboard options, physical or online. In support of their core mission, GMAC also announced a commitment to maintaining the availability of online exams throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and opened additional online test appointments for both exams, currently through July 17.

With uncertainty persisting in test center availability, GMAC will continue to open additional appointment dates as needed and continues to waive reschedule and cancel fees across both the online and test center exams to offer extended flexibility for test-takers.

“As COVID-19 continued to shut down test centers around the world, we made a conscious choice to focus on speed and quality, delivering Online assessments that met our quality and test security standards while also empowering candidates to meet tight admissions deadlines in a virtual environment,” said Vineet Chhabra, senior director and head of the GMAT™ product at GMAC. “While we have seen GMAT Online exam score outcomes comparable to exams delivered in test centers, we’ve heard the market and are excited to provide candidates with options and additional flexibility, helping ensure they can be at their best on exam day.”

Whiteboard Options

Candidates will now have the option to use a physical whiteboard, online whiteboard, or both supporting their unique test day preferences. Appointments beginning June 11 will include the option to use a physical whiteboard for the GMAT Online exam and the Executive Assessment Online. Registrants should review and ensure their whiteboard meets the required specifications and that they have a functional dry erase marker, eraser, and are familiar with the exam day whiteboard experience and policies.

Candidates who tested without access to the physical whiteboard will be permitted to test again, should they choose to do so.

Executive Assessment Online Now Available

RESTON, Va. (May 1, 2020):

The Graduate Management Admission Council™ (GMAC™), administrator of the GMAT™, GMAT™ Online exam, and Executive Assessment, today announced the release of its Executive Assessment Online, an interim solution designed to evaluate a career professional’s business school readiness in a virtual environment. As the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in the closing of testing centers around the world, GMAC has quickly moved to offer alternative solutions that are accessible online. The interim Executive Assessment Online allows business schools to evaluate a candidate’s readiness based on career experience and helps admissions teams understand how to best support success in their program.

“Our goal is to support people interested in pursuing business school, and to help schools better understand a candidate’s potential for success in their program,” said Manish Dharia, head of the Executive Assessment product at GMAC. “Working professionals have come under significant strain as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, transitioning to a work-at-home environment and learning how best to manage priorities in this new environment. It was important to us, and consistent with our mission, to transition our focus to a solution that will empower them to continue their pursuit of an advanced business degree during these uncertain times.”

Solution will support test takers and schools as many test centers remain closed due to COVID-19. Registration opens May 1, 2020 with testing appointments available beginning May 5, 2020.

Test Structure

GMAC has made the interim solution available on personal and laptop computers with Mac and Windows operating systems and will prioritize the availability of the alternative assessment as the organization seeks to support test takers and schools in impacted markets, with the exception of markets limited by regulatory restrictions; these include mainland China, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, South Sudan, and Slovenia. Additionally, the Executive Assessment will launch with two accommodations for candidates with disabilities that meet specific eligibility criteria, 50%, and 100% extended exam time options.

Except for the online delivery format, the Executive Assessment Online is identical to the exam administered in test centers. It offers the same sections, number of items, section times, scoring algorithm, section scores, and total score as the test center version. As a result, Executive Assessment Official Prep supports preparation for both the Executive Assessment Online and the test center-based version of the exam. Appointments for around-the-clock test dates begin on May 5, 2020 and run through June 30, 2020, at which time the need for the interim solution will be reevaluated.

GMAT™ Online Exam Now Available

RESTON, Va. (Apr. 14, 2020):

The Graduate Management Admission Council™ (GMAC™), administrator of the Graduate Management Admission Test™ (GMAT™) and a global association of leading graduate business schools, today announced the release of its GMAT Online exam, the only online assessment designed specifically for business schools and candidates exploring an advanced business degree. As the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in the closing of testing centers around the world, GMAC quickly moved to offer an alternative solution that is accessible online. The interim GMAT Online exam will help candidates feel safe while meeting upcoming application deadlines and confidently continue with their goals, while also helping business schools globally as they look for relevant ways to evaluate candidates for their admissions process.

“Supporting candidates in their pursuit of business school and helping schools evaluate talent is at the core of our mission and has always been our highest priority,” said Vineet Chhabra, senior director and head of the GMAT™ product at GMAC. “As COVID-19 evolved, and quickly changed how we have traditionally administered the GMAT exam, our team immediately transitioned focus to developing an online testing solution that empowers business schools and candidates to discover and evaluate each other during this interim period. GMAT Online maintains the GMAC standard of offering a valid and rigorous assessment, with critical security practices and protocols tailored for an online proctored environment.”

New format offers solutions for business schools and candidates as testing centers around the world remain temporarily closed. Registration opens April 14 and testing appointments available beginning April 20.

Test Structure

GMAC has made the interim solution available on Mac and PC platforms and will prioritize the availability of the alternative assessment as the organization seeks to support test takers and schools in impacted markets, with the exception of markets limited by regulatory restrictions; these include mainland China, Iran, Cuba, Sudan, Slovenia, and North Korea. Additionally, GMAC is working to provide appropriate online options for candidates with disabilities who meet specific eligibility criteria.

The Quantitative, Verbal, and Integrated Reasoning sections (omitting the Analytical Writing Assessment section) will have the same type and number of items and the same time for completion, creating consistency in content and structure with the GMAT™ exam administered in test centers. It will also use the same scoring algorithm and score scale for the Section Scores and Total Score as the test center-based version. Appointments for around-the-clock test dates begin on April 20, 2020, and run through June 15, 2020, at which time the need for the interim solution will be reevaluated.
